FEATURE FRIDAY 2

(For the next installment of our Feature Friday, Tecna Display explores a feature that is making a come back into the display industry. The Curve is a versatile and eye catching feature and should be an arrow in all exhibition and trade shows display creators quiver.)

Curves.

Create versatile and unique curves to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

Exhibitions and Trade shows have always been a very successful and effective way for companies to display their products and attract more business. This is proven by the increase in the amount and size of trade shows being created every year. Keeping this in mind, it is becoming more and more difficult for companies to differentiate themselves from the masses at these shows.

At these shows companies are largely using the traditional stand design consisting of rigid square and rectangular shapes or using increasingly more expensive graphic prints. These stands can be rather monotonous and boring  for the public especially in large exhibition halls. Therefore companies have started  using a curvy design to break this monotony and stand out among their peers.

While curve designs are not something new to the industry they have been considered a premium feature and often only implemented by larger companies with bigger budgets.
This is now becoming less true as more display contractors are releasing their version of the curve design and a reduced cost of what it used to be. This is great news as curve designs can be implemented to great effect and has a very unique feel to them as well as many benefits.

Curves can be used to create intimate, comfortable areas where booth staff and customers can interact in a more effective manner, they allow for graphical branding to be seen from almost every angle and gives off an element of the futuristic and cutting edge.

At the pinnacle of the curved display design is Tecna Display, with its wide array of sizes and types of curves it is able to accommodate every design requirement.

Please visit the Tecna Display website for our product list of curves or design your own with a design specialists.

Hump Day Wednesday 1

Augmented and Virtual reality’s entry into the exhibition and trade show industry.

With so many companies entering into the AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) industry, there is some major spending and development happening continuously:

• Facebook purchased Oculus Rift (high-resolution immersive VR goggles) for US$2.1 Billion.
• Samsung, Sony and Google have all made major investments in VR in this past year.
• GoPro has made a made a turn-key 360° camera array that will work with Google Jump VR software. These VR videos will be distributed on YouTube
• Google is selling Cardboard, a US$20 VR viewer that will convert large format smartphones, such as the LG G4 and Nexus 6, into immersive VR goggles at about 1/50 to 1/100 the cost of standard VR viewers.

The technology that is being created and perfected by these technology giants is only set to get better and more accessible to the public. So what does this mean for the exhibition and trade show industry and what are the applications for this technology?

• VR technology will make it possible to demonstrate products at tradeshows in an interactive and realistic manner while also allowing companies to have less physical products at the show.
• VR headsets can attract attendees to booths with immersive games and experiences
• Display contractors and designers will be able to build 3D representations of booths for their clients allowing them to do walkthroughs and design comparisons.
• Having VR headsets will mean more attendees. People will be able to connect remotely and take a walkthrough of the trade show.
• Another way will be through mobile telepresence robots, which is a ‘remote robotic VR sensing unit. In essence this robot is a virtual attendee for individuals who are not able to attend in person. This is already here on a basic level in the form of ‘Mobi’ (visit their website - http://www.eventmobi.com/blog/2013/10/07/say-hello-to-mobi-the-first-robotic-attendee-at-imex-america-2013/ )

There are many more uses for VR and AR technology within the event and exhibition industry and with there being constant improvements and investments to this technology it’s only a matter of time before it is widely used by industry leaders.

Sustainability in Exhibition Stands.

One of the new big drives in 2016 is sustainability, especially within the event and exhibition industry which is growing exponentially. But stands and booths at exhibitions and trade shows can potentially be damaging towards the environment due to a few factors.

Firstly, exhibition and event display contractors want to create unique, eye catching stands accompanied by huge graphics and visuals. Unfortunately these stands are often then only used  discarded or stored away and forgotten. Its the same for those huge graphics as well, they are often tailored towards a specific event  and therefore are often not re-usable.

Another issue when it comes to sustainability at exhibitions or trade shows is that a number of stands and booths are being created out of wood or wood based products. This is often because of the versatility and adaptability that wood affords to contractors. There are some obvious problems with having a large wooden exhibition stand. Firstly because it is not cost effective due to it not being re-usable as the dimensions of the display often don't measure up to your next stand size and realistically creative ideas often change from stand to stand. Wooden products also require a very large and knowledgeable work force to cut, construct and decorate the display at the venue. It was previously the only way for contractors to create unique designs and features that were completely modular.

Exhibition stand holders and contract builders are starting to wise up and explore new ways at becoming more eco-friendly. The new trend within the industry is fully aluminium or plastic modular systems. These new modular display systems allow contractors to reuse the parts in a variety of different manners. Creating new and innovative displays without having to purchase a brand new product. It also affords them to easily attach new graphics to the paneling whereas before with the wooden panels it was not possible due to it being directly painted on.

At the forefront of the new aluminium modular display systems is Tecna Display with both its T3 Systems and Affinity products. Both these systems allow for stunningly simple yet striking displays solutions, but each with its own additional unique features. The systems accommodate virtually any graphical profiles to be attached which adds to their eco-friendliness and makes them more cost effective.

Golden Strength and Cabi produce an exceptional display using the T3 modular display system

Golden Strength

CABISCOOP FALL FASHION SHOW 22 JULY 2016

Venue: Boston Convention and Exhibition Centre, Boston, Massachusetts.

Lobby of the convention centre

Cabi is a women’s’ fashion designer and manufacturer and the CabiScoop fall fashion show is their heavily anticipated yearly event, where they have the intention of unveiling the newest collection of the fall women’s fashion wear.
Golden Strength and Cabi joined forces to create an event display that would give attendees and the public a sneak peak of what was to come in the actual show. This was no easy task considering the amount of fashion lines and products that were to be showcased.

With their collaboration they pulled out all the stops and used a variety of displaying techniques in order to create a unique and eye catching visual show to excite and thrill the public. The entire display which was built in the lobby of the centre consisted of 14 graphic stands, 2 floating walls and 2 encased pedestals.
Golden Strength’s designed display allowed Cabi to use gigantic and stunning visuals on the stands, clothed mannequins in the encased pedestals and display all manner of products with the floating walls.

The product used to build these structures was the Tecna Displays’ T3 modular display system. Using a combination of our fusion tubing and connectors it allowed for the large graphics to be attached using magnetic strips. This was a simple yet effective method and allowed for the wide array of displays to be constructed flawlessly. The beauty of the T3 system is also in the versatility and ease of construction.

All 18 of the display pieces were transported to the venue in compact travel cases that can be fitted into the back of car or van with no trouble. Each graphic stand and float wall required no more than 3 team members with a ladder or scissor lift 45 minutes to construct. Whereas the encased pedestals due to its complex design required 5 team members 5 hours to set up. The displays required no tools or prior knowledge of Tecna Displays product to complete the build, making it by far the most efficient and dynamic of modular display systems. Once the event was completed, all the components packed up quickly and efficiently back into the travel cases and stored for their next job and venue.

Tecna Display is proud to have been able to be a part of this magnificent display and congratulate Cabi and Golden Strength on their phenomenal work.
